Overview:
The RUCKUS Fiber Backpack is an optional, field-installable Fiber-to-Ethernet Media Converter accessory that provides a fiber Optical Network Terminal (ONT) backhaul interface for the H510 Wall-plate AP — RUCKUS's leading hospitality access point.
In hospitality and MDU deployments today, fiber-based installations typically require a separate ONT to connect APs deployed in hotel rooms to fiber media. Most ONTs do not support both active and passive fiber SFP modules, and installing an ONT alongside an AP creates wire clutter and aesthetic challenges in guest-facing spaces.
The Fiber Backpack solves this by attaching directly and unnoticeably to the H510, converting 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet from the AP to fiber via an SFP cage. It supports both PON and Active Fiber SFP modules, and provides power to the H510 AP by converting DC input power to PoE out — eliminating the need for a separate power injector.
Designed for fiber-ready hotels and MDU environments, the Fiber Backpack simplifies Wi-Fi deployments, reduces cabling complexity, and maintains room aesthetics without compromising connectivity.
